Word Work: Our class will continue to learn about the /oo/ syllable pattern for this week. Our syllable pattern makes the sound as in blue, moon, youth.    Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns.  Spelling City is ready for students to access the practice list for the week.


PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES:  This year our conferences will be at the end of February. My class is piloting student led conferences so instead of meeting with only certain students, I will like to give every family a chance to participate. Please use this link to sign up for a time that you AND your child can come to school for the conference. If the available times do not work for you, please email me and we can arrange a different time. I also understand that some parents still prefer virtual conferences. If this is the case, please email me and I can discuss how that can be arranged. Thank you!


VALENTINE'S DAY PARTY: How did it happen that our last party is just a few weeks away? The year is going so fast. Here is the link to help out for the party on February 14th at 2:00. Children are welcome to bring valentine cards starting Friday, February 10th. They will pass them out during the party. Click this link if you need the name list for labeling the envelopes.

  Weekly Update September 18, 2022 9/19 Today is Maize & Blue Day!   We have Media Center.   Remember tonight is Back to School Night for parents only.     I look forward to seeing you at 5:45 pm. 9/20 We have art. 9/21 We have a late start.  School will start at 9:25 a.m.    9/22 We have gym.      Today is Picture Day!  9/23 We have music. Word Work : This week, your child will be learning words that follow the closed syllable rule.  This short vowel rule includes words like hat, shop, spend, chin, and gum.  A list of words will come home to practice on Monday.  Students may read the words, talk about the word’s meaning, and look for common patterns in the way the words are spelled.  Please do not feel your child should be able to spell all the words on this list.
