Thank you to our field trip volunteers. We enjoyed our trip to Sarett Nature Center.  I hope your child came home and shared some interesting facts about maple sugaring with you on Friday.


Word Work: Our class will learn about compound words such as someone, cherry pie, and part-time. Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns.  Spelling City is ready for students to access the Unit 18 practice list for the week. 


March Is Reading Month:   Students are doing a fantastic job of tracking their pages read every night.  Please keep encouraging the great reading that is happening.    The March Book Madness competition continues this week with the books who made it to the next round after voting last Tuesday.  We are enjoying all the ways children are engaging in reading. 


Spring Weather:  Please note that with the changing temperatures and our proximity to the lake, it can be hard to dress for the day.  We will be enforcing coats to 50 degrees and long sleeves to 60.  As for shorts, let's keep those for days when it's going to be 60.  If we get a breeze off the lake, it can be a cold 20 minutes on the playground.  Thank you for your help.


Music Performance:   Our musical performance is just around the corner.  Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, April 19th.  This is the day our 2nd graders will perform their show.  All 3 buildings are hosting their show that night at the high school.   Our performance will take place from 6:30-7:30.  More information will come home soon concerning what time to be there and where each class will meet.

  Weekly Update September 18, 2022 9/19 Today is Maize & Blue Day!   We have Media Center.   Remember tonight is Back to School Night for parents only.     I look forward to seeing you at 5:45 pm. 9/20 We have art. 9/21 We have a late start.  School will start at 9:25 a.m.    9/22 We have gym.      Today is Picture Day!  9/23 We have music. Word Work : This week, your child will be learning words that follow the closed syllable rule.  This short vowel rule includes words like hat, shop, spend, chin, and gum.  A list of words will come home to practice on Monday.  Students may read the words, talk about the word’s meaning, and look for common patterns in the way the words are spelled.  Please do not feel your child should be able to spell all the words on this list.
