Weekly Update
December 6, 2022
Kleenex Emergency: Never in all my years have I run out of Kleenex until now. If you are able to send in a box that would be greatly appreciated. We are officially down to our last box. Thank you so much!!
Word Work: Our class will be learning about the r-controlled o syllable pattern this week. The following words are examples of this pattern: born, more, roar, floor, and yourself. Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns. Spelling City is ready for students to access the practice list for the week.
Absence: I will be out of the classroom on Thursday afternoon and all day Friday of this week. Ms. Gideon will be with the students for both days. Let me know if you have any questions.
Ice Skating: Thanks to our PTO and the City of St. Joseph, our Lincoln School K-5 students will be able to ice skate for free at the Howard Ice Arena on the 15th and 16th (the 2nd grade classes are going on different days). Our second graders will walk with their teachers to and from the ice rink. Students may get ice skates to use at the rink for free or bring their own skates in a duffle bag or brown paper bag. Helmets and safety gear are encouraged. Parents are welcome to join us. It is very helpful to have parents assisting students with putting on and taking off skates. We will be leaving Lincoln School on December 16th at 8:40 , skating from 9-9:40, and returning to Lincoln at 9:55.
Winter Party: Stay tuned for more details via email this week. The last couple of years have been unusual for a variety of reasons when it comes to winter parties. I am happy to plan it as I have the last two years with limited parent volunteers but I am also happy to have parent suggestions. The party will be on the 22nd from 2-2:45 which works out to three 12 minute centers. Let me know if you have an interest or ideas of a craft. For the snack table, I am leaning towards cookie decorating. Thank you for any ideas.
