WORD WORK: This week our class will be learning about adding the prefix un- to words as in the words unhappy, undone, and unfair.  Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns.  Spelling City is ready for students to access the Unit 27 practice list for the week. 


SJ FIELD TRIP: Thank you to our parents that were able to join us for our visit to the carousel and bluff walk.  We appreciate you taking the time to enjoy this special day with our class. 


DEVICE, CASE, & CHARGER RETURN: Please return all computers, cases, and chargers to school this week.  The devices will be staying at school until the end of the year.  This will allow for inspection, cleaning, and check-in.  Let us know if you have any questions.


MORE FIELD TRIPS THIS WEEK:  FIRST, our classes will go to Heritage on Wednesday, May 31st. While there, students will tour through 3 of the different exhibits currently on display.  We will eat our lunch at the Heritage Museum.  Parents are welcome.  SECOND, our students will be walking to Kiwanis Park to have an afternoon of fun with their peers on Thursday, June 1st.  We will be taking sack lunches to eat at the park.   Please make sure your child dresses for the weather, wears good walking shoes (no sandals, please) and applies sunscreen. 


LIBRARY BOOKS: Please return all library books and pay any fines for missing books this week  Our class is striving to have 100% accountability.  Thank you for your help in making this possible.

  Weekly Update September 18, 2022 9/19 Today is Maize & Blue Day!   We have Media Center.   Remember tonight is Back to School Night for parents only.     I look forward to seeing you at 5:45 pm. 9/20 We have art. 9/21 We have a late start.  School will start at 9:25 a.m.    9/22 We have gym.      Today is Picture Day!  9/23 We have music. Word Work : This week, your child will be learning words that follow the closed syllable rule.  This short vowel rule includes words like hat, shop, spend, chin, and gum.  A list of words will come home to practice on Monday.  Students may read the words, talk about the word’s meaning, and look for common patterns in the way the words are spelled.  Please do not feel your child should be able to spell all the words on this list.
